Every ticket helps save a life: Sammy D Foundation car lottery fights to end youth violence

The Sammy D Foundation’s 2025 car lottery is more than a chance to drive away in a Kia Picanto Sport – it’s a lifeline for young Australians, funding vital programs that prevent youth violence and save lives. Entries purchased before 14 October also go into the draw for a $2,500 early bird cash prize!

Every young person deserves to feel safe, to know they are valued and supported,” said Jannine Jackson, CEO of the Sammy D Foundation. “But the reality is far from this. Families across Australia are touched by the devastating consequences of youth violence every week. Too many young lives are being stolen, dreams are being cut short, and communities are left reeling. Every ticket purchased in this raffle is a step towards changing that.

Funds raised through the raffle allow the Foundation to deliver evidence-based education programs in schools, sporting clubs, and community groups. These programs teach young people to recognise early warning signs of violence, de-escalate conflict, and make safer, smarter choices. For every $25 raised, one young person can be educated – a small investment that can literally change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Imagine a teenager walking home, or sitting in class, feeling unsafe, anxious, or fearful,” Ms Jackson continued. “Imagine them watching others act violently around them, feeling powerless to stop it. That is the daily reality for far too many young Australians. Every ticket purchased educates a child, gives them the tools to prevent violence, and gives families hope. It’s more than a ticket, it’s a lifeline.”

The Sammy D Foundation relies entirely on community support, receiving no government funding. “Every dollar raised, every ticket purchased, goes directly to protecting young people from a life impacted by violence,” said Ms Jackson. “That’s why we are asking our community to stand with us, because with just $25, you can educate one kid and help change a life.”

The impact of the Foundation’s programs is clear: after attending, 85% of students report that violence is never the answer, and 73% feel more confident in safely managing conflict, lifesaving skills in a society where youth violence is rising.

The raffle is proudly supported by ADL Support Services and Maughan Thiem Kia Cheltenham, helping to amplify the Foundation’s reach and impact.

Every entry matters,” Ms Jackson said. “It’s not just a ticket, it’s a commitment to a safer, kinder future. Together, we can stop young people from becoming victims or perpetrators of violence. Together, we can make sure no other family has to endure the heartbreak of losing a child to senseless violence.
